Words like "genuis" and "visionary" are thrown around carelessly these days, wrongly and insultingly used to describe that which should not be elevated to any level higher than transitory and mediocre. Most of the time, those who truly deserve these titles are so far ahead of the curve that they have left us long before we could catch up. I believe that Ed "Big Daddy" Roth is one of those individuals.
Epitomizing an era, bridging the gap between the past and the future, and being at the forefront of a cultural revolution...all at the same time...is quite a feat, and Roth did it all -- just by being himself. The Mysterion, in my opinion, is a Big Daddy masterpiece; outrageous automotive sculpture at it's finest. I built this model kit as a tribute to that spirit (don't worry...I have another sealed kit for my collection!), then set up and shot this image to celebrate it.
